Life of a Versiti Blood Drive Volunteer by Ellen Pease-Blog 2

New Holly Blood Drives Logo

I want to thank my granddaughter, Riley, for her designing skills to help me finalize our new Holly Blood Drives logo which will be used for a future project. Thanks, Riley!  

Question: Where else could I advertise our Holly blood drives? 
Right away, three ideas come to mind. 
1. Email local churches and their pastors the information about our Holly blood drives for their church bulletins and community bulletin boards. 

2. This one I am dragging my feet on. It's to go to our local online monthly Holly Township meetings, say a few words (up to 4 minutes) on the importance of donating blood, and our next blood drive date, and then do the same for the  Village of Holly monthly online meetings.


3. Really dragging my feet. Going to the monthly breakfast meeting of the Holly Chamber of Commerce and doing a two-minute presentation. 

Upon reading further in the article, I found three ways to motivate myself to do a task that I don't want to do.

1. Commit to a deadline. It’s amazing how much we can accomplish with a deadline looming. 
2. Pair the task. Pair a task we don’t love with one we do.
3. Find meaning. The world’s most successful people relate everything they do to a greater sense of purpose.
4. I'll add #4. Bring a support buddy to keep you on task and cheer you on.

So my goal for the Saturday, November 18 blood drive is to email or call local churches about displaying our information soon. Then I will find out when the meetings are for the Village, Township, and Chamber of Commerce of Holly for December. 👀

  Life of a Versiti Blood Drive Coordinator  by Ellen Pease- Blog 3  Hello Friends. Since the last time I posted, we added two 2024 Versiti blood drives in Fenton, Michigan at the Fenton United Methodist Church, Family Life Center. The third drive in Fenton will be summer Luau-themed on Thursday, August 15 (2:30-7:00 PM). Brightly colored Luau decorations, beach balls, flower leis, snacks, rubber duckies, a photo booth, and more! (No sharks!) (The photos below are from our recent Holly Luau-themed blood drive on Saturday, July 27th.) Then, our regular Holly schedule drive is Tuesday, August 20 (1-7 PM) and again it's Luau-themed one more time!  Back to normal drives after that.
